What does Maerchen mean?
Maerchen is the German word for both fairy tales and folk tales, and is prefered by scholars as it does not have the unfortunate childish connotation that "fairy tale" has in English. The Grimm's stories contain much more violence and adult content than most people realize. These stories were told around a fire, by all members of a household, and were enjoyed by everyone alike. The "bedtime story" view of maerchen didn't occur until the 19th Century, when parents sought a manner of teaching moral lessons to their children.

Episode 2-10: The Brave Little Tailor

The last episode of the second season is the Grimm Brother's tale of "The Brave Little Tailor", about a young man who uses his smarts to best others strength. Tune in this Thursday at 6pm to hear the conclusion of season two!
