The Maerchen
Radio Narrative is a 15-minute radio narrative production that is broadcast
in the Summer months on WMHW-FM. It is now available as a podcast. Each
episode features the travelling storyteller in a new place, telling a
new tale in its original form. Radio Narrative is a cross between traditional
storytelling and radio drama, that results in an unique listening experience.

Maerchen is the German
word for both fairy tales and folk tales, and is prefered by scholars
as it does not have the unfortunate childish connotation that "fairy tale"
has in English. The Grimm's stories contain much more violence and adult
content than most people realize. These stories were told around a fire,
by all members of a household, and were enjoyed by everyone alike. The
"bedtime story" view of maerchen didn't occur until the 19th Century,
when parents sought a manner of teaching moral lessons to their children.
Episode 2-10: The Brave Little
Tailor

of the second season is the Grimm Brother's tale of "The Brave Little
Tailor", about a young man who uses his smarts to best others strength.
